Gateway Design Studio provided athletic field design and landscape architectural services for the planning, design and implementation of improvements to Veterans Memorial Park within the City of Union, Missouri.  GDS assisted a local engineering and architecture firm in creating a unique park and recreational athletic complex planned to serve the City and surrounding community.  The project team’s goal was to create a distinctive park and sports complex that connects both valuable public and private amenities to provide a unified, attractive and sustainable project.

GDS provided sound recommendations in order to create both a unique design and compliment the inherent engineering solutions. The project team considered the existing ramifications of the site for each aspect of the proposed elements related to the CITY’s goals and objectives; including but not limited to the park and sports complex amenities such as new soccer and football fields, a new regulation baseball field, a 4-plex softball complex, various shelters, trails, an amphitheater and a splash pad area.

GDS was instrumental in specifying recreational equipment, site furniture, sports field lighting, field turf & soil, landscape development, splash pad design features, and field irrigation development. Our design team provided preliminary and final plans for the athletic fields, field lighting, splash pad area, landscape, and field irrigation.
