Gateway Design Studio was selected in 2019 by University City, MO for the development of a Master Plan for Greenfelder Park, a 6.75-acre neighborhood park located in within the north section of the City which required an inventory/assessment and Concept Master Plan for future planned improvements to the site.

 

The park currently is generally open space with some shared parking with the neighboring church at the south end of the property. The park abuts a church facility to the east and residential homes to the south. A railroad right-of-way exists along the north portion of the property along existing tree line. The park has been continually impacted by off-site storm water runoff from the neighboring properties primarily east of the site.

 

RECOMMENDATIONS

Gateway Design Studio provided master plan recommendations which included incorporating bio-retention basins & swales for storm water run-off control, a loop paved trail, a new nature themed playground, new site furniture, new signage/wayfinding, a new pavilion and restroom facility, site lighting, improved ADA accessibility and native landscaping.
